20 day African photography safari

Mountain Gorillas and Highlights of Rwanda PLUS South Africa's Super Six Photo Safari.

Combine our two most popular African photography safaris into one of the world’s most incredible wildlife experiences,

Beautiful landscapes and vibrant cultural highlights.

On this truly epic photographic journey through Africa's most iconic wildlife we start in Rwanda, home of arguably the most emotionally intense animal encounter in the world, trekking to meet mountain gorillas.  But there's so much more to Rwanda than just gorillas, and we make sure you won't miss out on the rest of the rare and varied wildlife, as well as this beautiful country's most spectacular scenery and Rwanda's warm and welcoming people and culture.

You won't want to go home after experiencing all Rwanda has to offer... and on this ultimate combination safari you don't have to!  Our adventure continues in search of giants on South Africa's Indian Ocean coastline, and continues on to the Big Five and much more in one of the best set up reserves for creative wildlife photography in Africa ...it just doesn't get better than this!

Part One:  Mountain Gorillas & Highlights of Rwanda

Mountain Gorillas & Golden Monkeys of Rwanda Highlights

  • two days of Mountain Gorilla encounters in an exclusive photography group

  • one day each of chimpanzee, colobus and golden monkey photography treks

  • tours of Kigali Communities, Genocide Memorial, Kings Palace and National Museum

  • experienced tutor to advise on all aspects of photography and videography

  • porter service available on treks

  • apres trek tours and cultural experiences

  • excellent full board accomodation

  • safari supports primate conservation

Our welcome in Rwanda is always a warm one, and we will spend our first day exploring the communities of Kigali on an interactive neighbourhood walking tour, organised and in support of the Kigali Women's Centre. This will be followed by a poignant visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial.

Our next stop is Nyungwe forest, a haven for chimpanzee, black and white colobus monkeys and many other primates and birds.

From here our journey takes us northwards to Lake Kivu, an astonishingly beautiful part of this spectacular country.

For our Rwandan finale we then head to Volcanoes National Park in the famed Virunga massif.  Here we complete our Rwandan experience with the natural history encounter of a lifetime: mountain gorillas.

Having developed our photographic skills and creativity along our journey, when we trek to meet Rwanda's mountain gorillas we will be confident of creating captivating images that reflect the rugged beauty, emotions and interaction of the gorillas as they socialize in their family groups.  Your tutor will continue to ensure that you get the best possible images, however tricky the shooting conditions may be.

Tour leader Trai Anfield describes this trek as  'The most emotionally challenging and rewarding wildlife photo shoot I have had the privilege to experience. The intimate glimpse we gain into the family lives of these most human of animals is something you will never forget, especially when you create insightful images to bring back home.  I personally can't wait to go back again in 2016.'

To ensure the best possible encounter with the mountain gorillas we will make two seperate journeys to photograph them. While we are here we will also make time for a trek to photograph the region's charming Golden Monkeys.  And our Rwandan experience wouldn't be complete without seeing more of the beautiful National Park, and meeting local people in the markets and villages.

Please note that a reasonable degree of fitness may be required to reach the gorillas. Treks can last several hours on steep terrain at altitude. However

all your photography kit and day supplies will be carried by porters, we will pace ourselves to the slowest member of our group, and take plenty of rest stops en route.  For more informationon trekking please see our Mountain Gorilla Trekking FAQs

Part Two: South Africa Super Six Photographic and Film Making Safari
