Our Conservation, Climate & Communities Commitment In Action

Lake Kerkini is an internationally respected eco-destination where - unusually - human intervention has actually enhanced the natural habitat. The local people nurture the wildlife present here, understanding how important it is both for conservation of biodiversity and for their economy.

We will support this local economy by staying in a family-run guesthouse, and eating in local small restaurants which use locally sourced products. We also rent a traditional 'plave' boat for our lake safaris, which helps to diversify the income of the region's fishermen.
In line with our environmental commitment we will take no internal flights, and make only minimal use of vehicles to transfer between bird sites, taking leisurely strolls in the evening to and from our dinner venues.
